Take A Pause – Collaboration with King’s College London

The Women’s Art Activation System (The WAAS) is collaborating with the Women’s Health research group at King’s College London on a project supporting individuals navigating pregnancy after a previous loss or preterm birth. This work is made possible by PPIE funding from the Centre for Translational Medicine (CTM) within King’s Health Partners (KHP) received in 2025 and the King’s College London Creative Catalyst Seed funding received in 2026.

If you have taken part in the project at all, you can leave feedback here: https://forms.gle/asB4DeXng7jSJ1NF9

Together we are co-designing a creative intervention to be embedded within the St Thomas’ Hospital antenatal clinic. Through creative workshops, focus groups and iterative prototyping, the project explores how accessible creative practices (making, drawing, tactile processes and facilitated reflection) can reduce stress and anxiety, strengthen emotional resilience, and foster peer connection, while improving communication between patients and clinicians. We are prototyping creative tools and resources for use during and between clinic appointments, alongside ways to share creative work (anonymously or with consent) to build community and visibility for those experiencing pregnancy after loss or preterm birth.
