Listen Up!

There is a Pecha Kucha night at the Stroud Valleys Artspace hosted by Nick Grellier once a month or so. We took part with a slideshow that started with an invitation to close your eyes and Listen Up!

Pecha Kucha was created as a way of keeping presentation formats really sharp and manageable. You get 20 slides and 20 seconds per slide. These nights at SVA are for artists to meet and share work, and we got a good time to chat in the bar afterwards, which is of course an important part of being an artist.

In this performance we wanted to bring attention to the visual dominance of arts culture, and the new explorations in our practice into listening as a method and a material. We mixed live performance and a recorded audio/slideshow presentation, and fellow artist Kate McMahon-Parkes.

Thanks to Nick Grelllier and SVA for hosting these events so artists can keep each other going!
